China says high-level commerce talks with US have resumed

BEIJING — China’s Commerce Ministry says high-level commerce talks between Beijing and Washington have resumed.

A ministry spokesman, Gao Feng, mentioned Thursday the 2 sides are “sustaining shut contact” following a Nov. 1 cellphone name between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump.

The 2 sides have raised tariffs on billions of {dollars} of one another’s items in a dispute over Beijing’s expertise coverage.

Gao mentioned: “Excessive-level contacts between the 2 sides on economics and commerce have resumed following the Nov. 1 dialog between the Chinese language and American heads of state.”

Gao gave no particulars of the talks or of which officers have been conducting them.
